The centre’s educational program is based on storytelling and educational arts (music, drama, and visual arts) as the media for recognizing and researching the world around us where learning becomes fun and accessible and individual talents are nurtured to develop along with language and communication skills.
Through participation in the arts, we believe that from as early age as possible children can be empowered to develop personal and social communication skills. Self confidence, self value and the opportunity to creatively explore and recognize the issues and concerns which affect our lives Treehouse Storytelling Centre involves children of all ages, aiming to develop from as early age as possible independence, self-confidence and individuality.
The creative team of professional artists, language teachers and enthusiasts, are trained to work with children of all ages.

 

HISTORY
Treehouse Storytelling Centre has been founded and developed in 1991 by Jelena Gašić in London (G. Britain).
In 2000, based on the perceived need for setting up an educational arts project with displaced youth and children from Kraljevo (Serbia) and the surrounding area, , she formed NGO “Naš svet-Our World”, who’s Project “Treehouse Storytelling Centre” was set up in 2006 in Belgrade . In 2007 this project has become independent and till today works in cooperation with NGO “Naš svet-Our World”.

 

EXTERNAL PROJECTS AND VISITING PERFORMANCES
Based on the perceived needs, our creative team of artists and researchers have devised and created various projects applying our educational arts method

-2012  In cooperation with Microsoft Corporation, project for elementary school children “Safety on the Internet “, workshops and performances for schools
-2011 Museum of Princess Ljubica – story „Susa i Ama“with visual arts workshops for primary school children
-2011 in cooperation with Japanese Tobacco Corporation – Family Day
-2010 in cooperation with Microsoft Corporation, project “ Safety on the internet”, performance “Musicians”
-2010 festival of light – performance THE SUN GODDES, performed in front of Academy of Science, with a procession through the city, ending at the Ethnography Museum
-2010 in cooperation with Belgrade Museum, – storytelling and-visual arts workshops for primary schools at the Museum “Toma Rosandić “ 2010 as part of The Night off Museums in Belgrade, devised performance “Letters to friends from the past and the future” of Toma Rosandic and the Museum Toma Rosandić
-International Nursery School of Belgrade, visiting performances from 2008 up to date
-2008 and 2006 Children Storytelling Festival
